Today we are excited to announce two new additions to the Canopy team: Amie Green is our new Head of Marketing and Gabriel Valdivia joins as Head of Design. Amie and Gabe bring years of experience to Canopy and will initially focus their efforts on supporting our first consumer app which is set to debut in the fall. Both have worked within large tech and media organizations in the past and will bring a new level of expertise to the growing Canopy team.
Amie joins Canopy from Flipboard where she led marketing and global brand solutions. She has worked in content, advertising and marketing for the last 15 years at Townsquare Media, Digitas, Martha Stewart Omnimedia and AOL. Her combination of consumer and B2B marketing experience is a perfect fit for Canopy as we build out our private personalization architecture. Amie is lucky enough to live a few blocks away from Canopy’s Brooklyn HQ.
Gabe most recently was a UX Manager at Jigsaw where he was exploring how technology can make people in the world safer. Prior to Jigsaw, Gabe was part of the design team behind Facebook Spaces and Facebook 360 for the Oculus Rift and Gear VR, respectively. He also worked on a number of Facebook initiatives focused around long form storytelling. Before Facebook, Gabe spent two years as the founding designer at Automatic, a connected car startup where he was responsible for marketing and product design.
At Canopy, we are building something entirely new in the world of personalization and discovery. The additions of Amie and Gabe to the team will help us achieve our ambitious goals and show the world that you can do things differently through a combination of technology and human curation.
